Sustainability shop guidelines

Join us in shaping a sustainable future

At Blanchelande’s Sustainability Shop (B’sss), we're on a mission to redefine the pre-loved uniform shopping experience. Our aim is to fill it with products that meet high-quality standards—items that we'd be proud to see our own children wearing. B’sss marks the exciting start of our drive to focus on reusing and passing forward quality clothing, ensuring that they continue to serve their purpose while reducing waste.

In line with the new way forward we would like to encourage all parents to think about being a part of B’sss either through donation or through purchase and would like to communicate some new guidelines to begin to redefine B’sss uniform shopping experience.

GUIDELINES

For Blanchelande's Sustainability shop

Cleanliness and presentation
We understand the daily adventures of school life can take a toll on uniforms but we ask that you kindly ensure that the uniforms are freshly laundered and free from stains as much as possible.

The uniform items will now be divided into 3 standards:
(just like Patagonia and other great sustainability companies do!)

  • Like new: These items are in good condition and show minimal signs of wear. They are often very close to brand new in terms of appearance and functionality.
  • Gently used (reduced price): Items in this category have been worn but are still in good condition. They may have some minor signs of wear or slight imperfections, small marks but they are still in usable and presentable condition.
  • Well worn: Well-worn items have seen a lot of use and may have visible signs of wear and tear. These items are small donations or free and are suited for those who are great repairers or are to be used for function over appearance.

Eventually you will be able to see the stock levels on the website under each item, size and quality standard. The well worn will be kept in our store and available on sales days!

Instructions

  • To respect the privacy and dignity of the new owner please remove wherever possible any name tags or labels that may have been added by the previous wearer. Unfortunately, we cannot accept pre-embroidered named items such as PE skirts, shorts and tops.
  • Clear Packaging: You can pick up our B’sss designed bags and shoulder covers from reception or at B’sss or place them neatly in a clean and sturdy bag or box.
  • Label the container or bag clearly including the item name, brand, size, and quantity using our B’sss tags (our preference) or a label you have made. This labelling ensures easy sorting by volunteers and helps parents find the perfect fit for their child, while also assisting us with stock control.
  • Donation Drop-off: You can drop off your uniforms at our shop in the drop off box outside our store or  during our calendared opening times which will be advertised on our website or in the school newsletter.

What is in top demand?

  • Blazers
  • Red and black PE Hoodies
  • PE polo shirts
  • Girls summer dresses

What we can no longer take as a donation

  • White shirts of any type
  • Personalised items with embroidered names
  • Banner (old brand) red and white shirts
  • Non current uniform items
